How long SEBI RA registration takes
There is no fixed timeline. The application moves through BSE review rounds, then SEBI review, then payments after approval, and the elapsed time depends mostly on how fast each round of observations is answered. An advisor application follows the same path.
Want this checked against your own position? We handle the documentation and the filing.
SEBI does not commit to a processing time, and we do not promise one. What we can describe is the path and where the time goes.
Stage 1: BSE review rounds
You file Form A on the BSE membership portal. BSE Limited, acting as the Research Analyst Administration and Supervisory Body, scrutinises it and sends observations. Each round is about documents and consistency: letterhead, dates, names, prescribed formats. You correct and upload again, and the next round follows. This stage is the longest and the one you control most.
Stage 2: SEBI review
Once BSE is satisfied it recommends the application to SEBI. SEBI grants registration. Registration and enforcement were never delegated to BSE.
Stage 3: payments after approval
Payments follow approval. For an individual or partnership firm, SEBI's registration fee is ₹3,000 for the first five years, following the ₹2,000 application fee. BSE's enlistment fee is separate and set by the body.
What shortens it
Answer every observation in one upload, use the prescribed formats unchanged, and keep names and dates identical across the form and the checklist. Applications slow down when a correction creates a new inconsistency.

What happens after BSE clears a SEBI research analyst application?
BSE submits the application to SEBI, you pay SEBI's application fee by challan and submit on the SEBI portal. After SEBI approves, you pay BSE's administration fee, place the deposit with a lien to BSE, and pay the SEBI registration fee challan within 48 hours. The registration number follows.

Common BSE observations on an RA or IA application and how to avoid them
BSE's review comments on applications are mostly about format and consistency. This is practice we have observed on live applications, written for a research analyst or investment advisor, and it is not a SEBI rule.

What IA and RA registration costs, and what those figures leave out
SEBI's own fees are small enough to surprise people. The deposit, the enlistment fee and the annual audit are where the real number sits.

Should you file SEBI research analyst or investment adviser registration yourself?
You can. Anyone can file Form A on the BSE portal, and an individual with a simple profile who follows the prescribed formats can get through alone. The time goes on BSE observation rounds: three on one recent research analyst filing, four on a recent investment advisor filing. Here is what each route involves and what we charge.
