An individual applying as a Research Analyst (or research advisor) uploads identity, address, qualification, NISM, infrastructure and bank documents, plus signed declarations, on the BSE membership portal in Form A.

The list below follows the sections of the BSE application form for a sole proprietor or individual. SEBI sets the substance in the regulations and circulars. The slot layout and what BSE accepts in each slot are practice we have seen on a live application, so treat the details as observed, and pull current formats from the form itself.
Identity and entity
- PAN with upload, and Aadhaar (last four digits with an upload).
- A Shops and Establishments registration. Individual filings need one, so arrange it before you start.
- GST declaration on letterhead, in the prescribed format, if you are registered for GST.
- Self-attested PAN copy. The form still carries income tax return and net worth slots, and a self-attested PAN is the practice we have seen accepted in them.
Addresses and infrastructure
- Address proofs for correspondence, registered office, principal place of business and billing, with a confirmation that they are in the applicant's name.
- Ownership document for the premises, or a rent agreement with a no-objection letter from the owner.
- Evidence for each infrastructure line: office space, equipment, communication, computer hardware and software, and research facility.
Qualification and certification
- Self-certified qualification and experience documents for each person listed, and for a one-person firm you appear as both applicant and research analyst.
- NISM Series XV certificate proof.
- The two regulation 7 declarations on qualification and certification.
- Employer NOC and details of the other activity, if you apply as part-time.
Declarations and write-ups
The form asks for fit and proper and disputes declarations, a Chapter III compliance declaration, a write-up on your current activities, details of the research services you propose, your conflict of interest policy and standard disclosures. Each one goes on letterhead, signed and dated. Prescribed annexures stay in the prescribed format with no edits.
Bank and fees
A business bank account with proof for the bank details section. SEBI's own fees for an individual or partnership firm are ₹2,000 on application and ₹3,000 on registration for the first five years. The deposit is arranged separately with a scheduled bank, and BSE charges its own administrative fee whose amount we do not publish.

Common BSE observations on an RA or IA application and how to avoid them
BSE's review comments on applications are mostly about format and consistency. This is practice we have observed on live applications, written for a research analyst or investment advisor, and it is not a SEBI rule.

How long SEBI RA registration takes
There is no fixed timeline. The application moves through BSE review rounds, then SEBI review, then payments after approval, and the elapsed time depends mostly on how fast each round of observations is answered. An advisor application follows the same path.
