Monthly compliance plan
Most of an adviser's compliance is not one big filing. It is records, consents and dates that have to stay right every month. We keep them current and tell you before anything falls due.
Research Analysts and Investment Advisers.
To see when this and your other duties fall due, use the free compliance calendar.
- A research analyst keeps records for five years, including interactions with clients and prospective clients from the first interaction, and until resolution where a dispute is raised. An investment adviser keeps the records its regulations list; we confirm the period against the current master circular.
- Fees to individual and HUF clients are capped at Rs 1,51,000 a year per family. An Investment Adviser on the AUA mode is capped at 2.5% of AUA a year per family. Statutory charges are excluded.
- NISM certification has to stay valid: Series XV-B before expiry for a Research Analyst, Series X-C for an Investment Adviser, and Series III-A for a non-individual adviser's compliance officer.
- The registration stays valid until suspended or cancelled, subject to the periodic fee SEBI charges every five years.
- Keep your client records, consents and interaction logs in order every month.
- Check each client's fees against the cap for your fee mode.
- Track NISM validity for you and the people associated with your advice, with renewal dates diarised.
- Diarise SEBI's five-yearly fee and tell you when a new SEBI circular changes what you have to do.
- Access to your client list, agreements and fee records, or a monthly export.
- Your NISM certificates and those of your associated persons.
- Your registration certificate.

Does the plan include the annual compliance audit?
No. The audit is a separate engagement we handle, priced on its own. The plan keeps the records the audit will look at.
Is the fee cap the same for every client?
The cap applies to individual and HUF clients. It does not apply to non-individual clients or accredited investors.
