Letter to your employer for PF deducted but not deposited
My employer deducts PF from my salary but it does not show in my account. How do I ask for it to be deposited?
Fill in your details for a free Word and PDF copyStart by checking your payslips against your PF account record. The letter works for months where the payslip shows a PF deduction and the account record shows no matching credit. It lists each month and the amount deducted, and asks the employer to deposit them and send the payment details by a date you choose.
The Employees' Provident Funds Scheme, 2026, in paragraph 28(3), requires the employer to remit contributions within fifteen days of the close of every month. Paragraph 22(3) treats a sum deducted from wages as entrusted to the employer for paying the contribution. Section 127 of the Code on Social Security, 2020 makes an employer liable to pay simple interest, at a rate the Central Government notifies, on a contribution not paid when due. The letter mentions these provisions and claims no interest figure.
Send the letter once the fifteen days for the latest month you list have ended. The form checks the date. If the employer does not deposit the amounts, the next step is a complaint on EPFiGMS, the EPFO grievance portal, using your UAN and an OTP. Fill in the form to see the letter, then download it as Word to edit or as PDF to print. Download is free against a mobile number.

Common questions
How long does an employer have to deposit PF after deducting it?
Paragraph 28(3) of the Employees' Provident Funds Scheme, 2026 says within fifteen days of the close of every month, through electronic payment. Paragraph 28(2) has the employer pay its own share with it. The Commissioner may extend the time in exceptional circumstances.
Does the letter claim interest or damages?
No. It names section 127 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, which provides for simple interest at a notified rate, but it states no rate and asks for no amount. It asks the employer to deposit the deducted contributions and confirm in writing.
What if I do not know my UAN?
Leave that field empty and the letter leaves it out. Your UAN is normally on your payslip. You need it later if you complain on EPFiGMS.
What can I do if the employer ignores the letter?
You can lodge a grievance on EPFiGMS, the EPFO portal, which reaches the EPFO office that covers the establishment. Keep a copy of this letter, your payslips and your PF account record for the complaint.
