My telecom provider has not fixed my complaint. What are my options?
Start with the provider's complaint centre. Under TRAI's Telecom Consumers Complaint Redressal Regulations, 2012, it registers the complaint at once and sends you a docket number by SMS with the time it expects to resolve it. That time comes from TRAI's quality of service rules for the service, and is three days where those rules set none.
If the complaint is not resolved, or you are unhappy with the outcome, appeal to the provider's appellate authority within 30 days after that time runs out. It can accept a late appeal up to three months for sufficient cause. There is no fee. Appeal by email, post, in person, through the complaint centre's number, or by dialling 198. The appeal is acknowledged within 3 days and decided within 10 days of being placed before the authority; TRAI puts the whole process at about 39 days.
TRAI itself does not handle individual complaints, though its site lists each provider's complaint centre and appellate authority. Sanchar Saathi takes grievances only about a blocked SIM or handset. If you are thinking of a consumer complaint, the checker shows the commission, the fee and the two-year date.
If this is where you are
I have bills, chats and letters for my complaint but no dated list of events and no index the forum will accept.

Common questions
Is the 30-day appeal window changing?
TRAI published a draft in May 2026 that would cut it to 15 days. We found no final notification, so 30 days stands.
Will TRAI take up my complaint?
No. TRAI says individual consumer complaints are not handled by it. The appeal goes to the provider's appellate authority.
